Mine is!
When Gus is ready to come in from his pen outside, he stands on his hind legs and puts his front paws against the NIC fence and gives me his most pathetic look (through the window). Today, when he I saw he was ready to come in, I went outside, and instead of right away opening the pen, I asked him, "Do you want out?" and in response he grabbed the carabiner clip and yanked on it a couple times! After I opened the gate and he'd hopped out, I said, "Now you go in the house!" and without even a second look back, he hopped straight through the door and into the house!
I'm still amazed every day at how clever he is!

Bella and Eddie push their small bowel against the door every morning and if I am not up by 7 to give them breakfast they begin picking it up and throwing it at the cage door. Eddie also has learned that he can jump in the chair to the desk to the dresser to get his treats. I've had to now store them in the top drawer as one day I found that he'd push'd the treat bag off the dresser and Bella and him were dragging it into their cage _________________ Bella (Mini Lop), Eddie (Holland Lop), Mopsy & Cottontail... They definitely have a 'clock' in them don't they. It was time to put the rabbits to bed after a day in the garden and today we had someone visiting while I heated their hot pad, got their food ready and changed their litter tray. When we went to sort it out and call them into their run/eglu, we found them already in there, just waiting for us! Now my friend thinks that I have super-intelligent bunnies, and I do too!

When Sniff is out of sight or about to get into something he shouldn't, I just have to say "Sniiiiiff!" in that you're-about-to-be-in-trouble tone and he darts out like a shot from wherever he was to make sure I can see him.
I never taught him that or anything, just one day I called his name like that and he came running; he seemed to understand right away a) that he was doing something he probably shouldn't and b) what that tone of voice must mean.
I try not to overuse it because I don't want it to lose its impact and he'll stop listening to me, but I'm always impressed when the situation comes up! _________________

Hehe! I love these kinds of stories!
Like so many other people, I had no clue how smart rabbits were. I thought they were basically the next step up from a hamster. Then along came Gus!
Another trick Gus has learned is, when the fridge opens, to scoot into the open doorway, grab whatever bag of veggies happens to be sitting on the shelf (we now have more veggies in our fridge than our crisper drawers can hold! ) and snatch it out before the door closes.

Rue, Grasshopper does that as well!
he knows when the fridge door is opened and runs into the kitchen, pushes his way in front of the door and on one occasion has hopped into the fridge! (possibly to cool down as well)
He also knows when his time playing outside is finished and will sit at the side door, waiting for me to catch up and open the door! _________________

| Oh yeah, no question. Jenny's learned how to climb the vertical wire-mesh sides of her pen in her latest escape attempt tactic. She's very analytical in her approach. If she'd just quit showing off to me before she's fully ready, she'd've been out on her own initiative at least four times now. |

I'd never have expected that rabbits could climb vertically - you'll have to rename Jenny, 'Spiderbun' |

Slipper replies to her name in that you're doing something bad tone like Sniff. Whenever she's about to do something bad like chew on my shoes I go "SLIPPER" and she'll automatically run away from the shoe. At times she likes to test and goes towards it again, I just say SLIPPER NO and she'll leave it alone.
She also likes doing her business outside of her tray, dont know why but she'll use her tray and at time she doesnt. So when we see her start getting settled near her litter we say IN THE BOX and she'll turn and jump in her tray and do her stuff. Sometimes she'll do that head bobble thing too and jump in. We just cant get her to use the litter box 100% of the time!
She also knows when the refrigerator door opens and when there's a bag of something around. And if she doesnt come to the kitchen when she hears the refrigerator door all we do is say SLIPPER <kissing noise> and she'll run over sliding on the tile floor smacking herself on the walls....quite funny to see.
I think they have their smartness in them but also lack a few bolts, specially in the stubbornness side _________________

| What a real cutie Slipper is! And it seems, intelligent too. I'm wondering if she goes outside of her litter tray, just so that it gets your attention and she's just being playful. Mine don't always use the litter tray either - about 90% of the time. Good job I don't mind cleaning! |

I got a new bunny on saturday. 10 weeks old. Her name is Pü.
Within two days she was going to the toilet in the same place 90% of the time. This was her running about my room not even in a hutch. Its day 4 today and she is still using her litter tray. I even changed the container and moved it and she is still using it. With about a 95% success and the other 5% is a near miss.
She really is a clever bunny!
She also is a very sulky bunny, its very easy to put her in a mood. They don't last very long but its very funny to see her toy with your emotions but always moving just out of reach with her back to you. Just when you give up trying to cheer her up there she is between your legs....
Most of the time though she is a very happy bunny, lots of binkying about the room.
on a side note Rue, what type of bunny is yours? Pü looks uncannily similar just slightly more fluffy, markings are almost exactly the same. The woman I got her off said she was a mini lop but I think her fur is a bit too long. Anyway yes, I shall put a picture up soon and you can see. |

What a cutie she is!!!
A bit like my two. Bonnie has flopped ears and bandit is more like a helicopter - one ear up and one down - like guess who
Your photos of Pu is lovely.
Years ago now we took on my sister's rabbit when she migrated to Australia and his name was Peluche which she told me means fluffy toy animal in French, hence my question of your name for your bun. _________________
