Our little Gizmo is gone :(

Postby slipper » Fri Oct 12, 2012 8:06 pm

Hello everyone.

Tonight at 3:07am Miami, FL time our little Gizzy went up to the clouds. Giovi came home in the afternoon today to a non-responsive to food and water bunny and not moving. She took him to the emergency vet clinic and an x-ray revealed that he had an distended stomach. I was out of town and arriving at night, I received the news two hours before my flight.

He was sent home with meds for Giovi to administer. Whatever the reason why he suddenly got sick is obviously unknown to us, but at least he waited for me to come home to see him. It was not a pleasant thing to watch him in the cage his last few minutes, but a warm comfortable towel over his body and a prayer was all he needed to relax, take his last breath and hop on over to heaven.

Slipper is now our concern since they were bonded. We placed Gizzy in his towel outside in front of their cage and let Slippy out, hoping that in her animal mind she understood the situation. She went up to him, sniffed and stood near his face a few seconds - she then changed course to some leftover hay laying on the outside of now "her" cage. I hope that she will be able to adapt and that she will not be leaving us soon.

Rest in peace Gizzy boy, bless your little heart - you will be greatly missed.
:(

[edit] I forgot to add a "thank you note" to fellow member Mindibun, who allowed us to adopt Gizzy 3 years ago after I fell in love with a picture of a little Gizzy sitting inside a small feeding bowl.

Oh no. So sorry to hear this. He was such a gorgeous little boy, and I know both of you and slipper loved him loads.

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Our little Gizzy boy is truly missed, it's weird to see just Slipper without Gizmo following her around.

Other than the love and care we gave him, we liked knowing that we helped him to stop believing that the wood floor was made of lava! We placed some carpet sample squares around the living room, we would go from one to the other until eventually we spread them out further and he wouldnt be scared of the floor as much. Oh that silly little rabbit.

Here's one of our favorite pics when he was younger. It's now framed and in our photo wall :)

Sorry if image is a bit too large.
